What We Got Here

I Only Have Ice For You, or what to do in Ouray on a cold winter's day; Surfin' With The Rubber Duck; two sources for Used McCall; and for the Song A’ Th’ Week, we have the romantic ballad "Two-Way Lovin'".

I Only Have Ice For You

When I visited Ouray back in June 2000, I heard about local attempts to keep tourism dollars in town during the winter months. Ouray itself doesn't have a ski area — you've got to go south towards Durango or over to Telluride — but it does have a lot of ice, which led to the Ouray Ice Festival. Unfortunately, the Festival was in January, so you've missed this year's; but there's always another winter.

Alan Chafin forwarded to me this article, from Outdoors magazine. Actually, he ripped it out of a copy of the magazine in the waiting room while he was getting an oil change, but that really doesn't matter.

Surfin' With The Rubber Duck

Last week, the local temperatures rose into the 50s (Fahrenheit, of course), giving the Duck an opportunity to dip his toes into the pond out back. A bit chilly, but he had to find out for himself. And what the Duck found? A lot of people who just don't do their research, or know how to spell; the 'common people' can be excused, but the journalists? Search for "mcall" (that's just one "c") on these pages.

"Wish Eye May, Wish Eye Might". Speculation about the identity of one 'David Fries'. The Duck has sent a correction to this page's author. He doesn't want misinformation circulating.

Smelly Tongues Digest #214, which is directly related to the previous item (the same writer appears here). That writer, 'agrimorfee', ought to wake up, the Duck thinks.

The Legend-News: 12 July 1999. You'd think that this guy could get it right.

The Legend-News: 7 March 1999. And that wasn't the first time! What a moron!

FSJ-List-Digest-353. This is an example of why the web site "C.W. McCall: An American Legend" was created: to settle bar bets.

FSJ-List-Digest-355. So he doesn't like country music? C'mon, boys! Let's learn him a lesson!

Cool Sites. Well, at least they like C.W.'s music.

Past_Blast_08-20_to_08-26_2000. Maybe he should have written "...since anyone remembers Nick Bakay". (He's the voice of the cat on Sabrina, The Teenage Witch.)

Re: does anyone remember the movie "convoy"????. The author of this message is pardoned for all of his sins, past and present. Anyone who tells someone else about this web site is obviously a fine human being.

mcall.com, The Morning Call online. This site has absolutely nothing to do with C.W.

Uncle Buzz PRESS. A mention of a cover of "Convoy", but the Duck isn't really certain that he wants to hear this one. Bubblegum?! (So far, the Duck has learned that this "Convoy" was actually released as a 7-inch single, and that the EP is out-of-print.)

Song A’ Th’ Week

You did remember that Wednesday is Valentine's Day, didn't you?

Two-Way Lovin'
(C.W. McCall, Bill Fries, Chip Davis)
From the album Rubber Duck

Ev'ry evenin', when the sun goes down
And nobody can see me
I get my Chevy an' I cruise around
Makin' love on my CB
I say, "Breaker broker for the Wolfman, baby
We lookin' for Red Ridin' Hoods
We definitely wants to modulate
We on the side, in the woods"

[Chorus]
Two-way lovin'
That's all I want to doo-woo-woo
Two-way lovin'
That's all I ever want to doo-oo-oo-oo-oo

An' she say "My, what a big pair of ears you have."

[Chorus]
Mama wants an eighty-eight

Now the other evenin' I was all alone
Wasn't nothin' to do
I called my baby on my microphone
Says, "Hello, where is you?"
She said her twenty was a-Grandma's place
(Which is down in the woods)
I ask her do she want to modulate?
Like a good Hood should

[Chorus]
Love me baby, hold me tight
Kiss me with your little mike
Don't you turn your squelch on me
Two-way lovin'
That's all I ever want to doo-doo-doo-doo doo-doo

Doo-doo?
She say, "My, what a big 10-4 you have, baby"

[Chorus]
Mama hold your mike up tight
Daddy treat your beaver right
Gonna modulate all night
